No More MAX

We regret that the popular MAX cartridge that we have been supplying our customers for a number of years is no longer available. The MAX was originally made by the Di Tech company, which went out of business a few years ago. The formula was then copied by another supplier or two until recently. Now, no one makes it.

MAX was a granular carbon cartridge with some KDF and some fluoride removal resin (the mystery ingredient) added.

Here are our suggestions for a substitute:

For fluoride removal in a single canister: Our CFX cartridge (our part number fc007) is half coconut shell carbon and half activated alumina (fluoride removal resin). It’s good for about 600 gallons in a countertop or undersink filter. It removes chlorine, fluoride, and some chemicals.

For fluoride removal in a double canister: The AAL cartridge (our part number fc011) is all activated alumina for a year or two of fluoride reduction. We recommend it for double filters only. It isn’t a good taste/odor cartridge but works well when accompanied by a carbon filter.

For taste/odor, chemical and lead reduction: KDF75 (fc023) is much like the MAX without the fluoride resin. It’s a good taste/odor and heavy metals cartridge. Or, for lead removal in an excellent carbon block, the KXPB-1 (fc004) is a great choice.

For fluoride removal, chlorine, taste/odor and much more, your best solution, of course, is a reverse osmosis unit.
